Regional Appeal for Families in Need
Canberra is better known for its leafy suburbs and broad boulevards rather than for needy families, homeless people and those caught in the poverty trap.
The Anglican Church has been helping those in need in the Canberra district for over 150 years. Its welfare arm, Anglicare, supports isolated people, resettles refugees and lends a helping hand to those down on their luck. Public donations fund most of this important work.
Maine Street Marketing recently helped Anglicare with the launch of its Annual Winter Appeal including arranging media relations for the Appeal.
Working with the CEO and his team, Maine Street Marketing developed a media strategy with a strong focus on Anglicare's target markets of Canberra and south eastern Australia. We approached editors, producers and journalists with local stories showing the great work that Anglicare does in their communities and made the Appeal topical by linking it to welfare provisions in the 2005 Australian Government Budget.
The CEO of Anglicare featured in Canberra and regional media 18 times in 96 hours. Media coverage of the Appeal reached over 338 000 people in the ACT, Goulburn, Wagga Wagga and along the South Coast of NSW (including nearly 120 000 radio listeners and TV watchers and over 218 000 newspaper readers).
I found that Maine Street Marketing provided professional services of high quality. The launch of our Winter Appeal, Winter Pantry Appeal and associated media management was completed successfully. All services agreed upon in engaging Bob and Barbara Crawshaw for this work were completed as promised: on time, on budget and with flexibility and creativity. We could not have expected more. Thanks!
