Training for Middle East Election

In April 2005 Maine Street Marketing supported The Public Affairs Recruitment Company and Media Gurus in a 7 day intensive PR and media training program for a senior official of Palestine's Central Election Committee.

The training, in advance of the 2006 Palestinian elections, covered bilingual media skills plus media, internal communications and PR strategies.

The Australian Government's international aid agency, AUSAID, provided some of the funding for this program.

I just wanted to let you know that Rola met with producers and journalists from ABC radio and TV international current affairs yesterday and it was a good test of her skills!

I had arranged for her to meet with the Head International Coverage, News and Current Affairs, ABC in Sydney to give her insight into the ABC and also so that she could find out what they might need when covering the election.

When we arrived it was a bit different to what we anticipated. We entered a conference room to find seven producers and journalists from programs such as The 7.30 Report, AM etc. They proceeded to ask Rola questions about the Palestinian situation, the election, voting issues, etc etc. It was a useful exercise for them to gain background information on the coming election. This went on for about 40 minutes.

She handled it brilliantly; she was eloquent, her English was near perfect and she was very calm.

Thank you for training her with such brilliance as I'm sure it enabled her to handle this unexpected situation
